UK and Western countries provide bases for terrorists to attack Sri Lanka and other poor nations

London, 17 July, 2005 (Asiantribune.com):The World Alliance for Peace in Sri Lanka (WAPS) and Society for Peace Unity and Human Rights (SPUR), an Australian-based NGO, have urged the British Government and the British people to remember the poor civilians who continue to be killed by the LTTE -- a terrorist group who are given protection in London and operates from UK.

This is stated in an open letter sent to Queen Elizabeth, Prime Minister Tony Blair and the Leader of the Opposition. Both groups have offered condolences to the families of the London terror bomb victims.

The joint statement signed by Dr. D.Jayasuriya states: "Today, when we condemn the terrorists who bombed the ordinary Londoners who were going about their daily business, who snuffed out the lives of fathers, mothers and children in London let the British Government and the British people think of thousands of poor civilians in Sri Lanka who have been and continued to be killed by the Tamil Tiger Terrorists. Let them rethink whether it is any longer morally correct or ethical to let the British land and the resources to be used by the terrorists to kill Sri Lankans and destroy their country."

Accusing UK, Canada, Norway and many other European States for harboring terrorist leaders both WAPS and SPUR have highlighted the case of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), who have been give protection to operate against the unarmed civilians in Sri Lanka from their UK base. Branding the LTTE "as the world's most brutal and best-organized terrorist group" the joint statement adds that the LTTE’s "key spokesperson (Anton Balasingham) along with his wife (Adele Balasingham)who trained women terrorist fighters and the women suicide bombers reside in London."

"It is also a well-known fact that Tamil Tiger Terrorists’ Publicity Centre is London from where they eulogize the activities of their suicide bombers and other killers. The British diplomats travel very often to Tamil Tiger Terrorist-controlled areas even when these killers say that they do not accept the sovereignty of Sri Lanka. The UK along with countries like Norway, Japan, etc. put continuous pressure on the legally elected Sri Lankan governments to share resources with the Tamil Tiger Terrorists, even though the UN Conventions on Terrorism clearly state that funding of Terrorism is a violation of international law.”

When there is overwhelming evidence to show that democratic leaders, politicians and the institutions of state are constantly being attacked by the armed LTTE, forcibly recruit child soldiers and proudly exhibit their suicide bomber squads, the UK and the leaders of the Western democracies have turned a Nelsonian eye for a poor developing nations like Sri Lanka battling terrorism for the last 25 years. Their unarmed civilians are slaughtered, political leaders gunned down, city centres bombed and the civilian life disrupted, yet, the UK and the West have no tears to shed, as these lives are discounted and treated as expendable as hey are not the 'chosen people'.
